Upright Interpretation:

The Hanged Man willingly surrenders to what life has served him at this time. At first, he may have fought changes but quickly found that it was a futile waste of energy. Now he submits to the circumstances in his world and holds himself in a place of stasis, knowing that sacrifice is necessary to achieve his goals. This card is all about spiritual surrender. Here the Hanged Man has allowed Source’s chains to bind him and he accepts that this is his price to pay.

Important Note:

Take a step back and evaluate where you’ve been placing your intentions. Does it suit your intended outcome?

Reversed Interpretation:

Unable to submit to Source, the Hanged Man finds himself upright, now free of his bondage. This may seem like a blessing, but upon closer inspection we can see that the Hanged Man has defaulted on his trial, therefore giving up his chance to achieve his goals. Now is the time to get introspective. If you have been fighting the flow of life you may need to look inside and see what’s keeping you from surrendering.

Wicked Perspective:

If you’ve found yourself stuck in a limiting mind state then the Hanged Man did not come to you by accident. He’s here to remind us that sometimes we have to surrender, for Source ultimately knows better than we do and if you’re trying to push a plan through with no avail, it’s probably safe to say that Source is putting the brakes on you and forcing you into stasis to re-evaluate.
